And I believe someone on this subreddit had a harder time returning a Purple at Macy's than if they had bought from MF or Purple directly. For example, I know if you buy a Purple from Amazon the return process is different than going through Purple. It's sometimes better to go with one store over another or sometimes best to buy directly from the manufacturer. Lastly, look into the return policies at the stores you buy a mattress from beforehand. If after a couple weeks to a month it still doesn't feel comfortable then best to look into another mattress and return it. The Original and 2 have the least amount of grid (2") and are the firmest, whereas 3 is medium (3" grid layer) and 4 is the softest (4" grid layer). The Original is all foam and grid whereas the 2/3/4 Hybrids have a combination of grid, foam, and coils. In the meanwhile, you can check which Purple model you have and look more into it. I recommend giving it a couple weeks at least and see if there's a difference by then. Considering the grid is something new to get used to that could be a reason why it feels uncomfortable to you. I remember my first few nights feeling so uncomfortable because it felt "firm" but after some more time it got broken in and felt softer and better. I don't own a Purple but I own an Intellibed which is similar to Purple but has more support layers and it took me between 2-4 weeks for my body to get adjusted to it. Then there's also the possibility that you need more time to break in the mattress. As well as as what firmness is best for the position you sleep in and for your weight. If all models felt the same then it would have been a good idea to look more into what makes them different. I'm not saying become a mattress expert and learn everything there is to know but at least do research on the brands and model(s) you're interested. The problem here isn't so much on it being a Purple mattress but that you didn't do your research. Purple isn't for everyone and that's okay. I am going to request they send people to pick it up if they accept returns. We had to deliver it ourselves and I wouldn’t recommend this. It is very heavy, so be careful moving it. Oh, and the mattress is nearly 100 pounds!! My Queen size is 82 pounds. But I would just rather get a normal, medium beauty rest mattress. The purple grid is definitely supportive enough for a nice gel layer to lay on top. I am also normal BMI, which affects how the mattress feels for me.
Some are offended that these mattresses feel the same but… they do for me. and when I watch people lay on them online, the way the bed appears to “conform” to them looks similar. I learned about the purple material, I visited different mattress stores in my area to lie down on the mattresses, I looked up reviews… All the purple mattresses feel VERY SIMILAR to me. I honestly don’t know how much more/better research I could have done. Since I am going to get rid of it, that is obviously a non-issue for meĮdit: a lot of people are saying I didn’t do my research. Part of what makes it worse is that it doesn’t last as long as the others. Other notes: I am a back sleeper, by the way.Įdit: This is a purple 1 - based on my research this is the worst mattress but if you don’t have the money, it is supposed to be decent. It’s only been 2 nights and I’m ready to see if I can return this. Note, I have been sleeping without a pillow (this is normal for me - even if a pillow would be more comfortable the bed shouldn’t be giving me such horrible pain, right?) I mean, I have woken up 4 times this evening just because of the discomfort. It is way too firm! And causing me to have upper back pain. Yes, it’s bouncy and interesting but when you actually sleep on it, it feels like you’re on a super firm mattress. I bought it because I saw so many reviews of people talking about how they no longer have back pain. I laid on several of them on different days before purchase. For me personally, cause major back and neck pain.Įdit: I don’t know why people think I didn’t try these mattresses in a store before purchase. TL DWTR - Purple mattress is a waste of money.
